Geo Eye, based in Dulles, Virginia, provides national security agencies and commercial organizations with geospatial information. The firm owns multiple satellites and a network of ground stations worldwide. The company's image processing technologies have allowed it to build a large image archive. Geo Eye, formerly ORBIMAGE (R), operates the OrbView-2, OrbView-3, and Indian Remote Sensing satellites. Geo Eye acquired Space Imaging in 2006. Assets include the company's data archive, the IKONOS satellite, ground stations, and access to the firm's global reseller and affiliate network. The Space Imaging archive contains information on 230 million square kilometers of terrain. Eighty percent of Space Imaging's subject matter experts also have joined Geo Eye. The firm employs 300 people across its facilities in Virginia, Colorado, and Missouri. Its OrbView-5 satellite, scheduled for a 2007 launch, will be employed in producing detailed, panchromatic and multispectral geospatial imagery.
